Morrison Center is committed to assisting each person receiving services to develop to his or her fullest potential in accordance with Title 34B, 5605: Rights and basic protections of a person with intellectual disability, autism, or acquired brain injury. Specifically:
- The right of citizenship
- The right to humane treatment
- The right to practice religion
- The right to communicate
- The right to work
- The right to vote
- The right to have personal property
- The right of nutrition
- The right to medical care
- The right of freedom from forced sterilization
- The right to social activity
- The right to physical exercise
- The right of humane discipline
- The right of proper behavioral treatment
- The right of freedom from physical restraint
- The right to confidentiality
Protect
Rights
Morrison Center recognizes and protects the rights of the individuals it serves, including their right to control the use and dissemination of their personal and confidential information. Morrison Center prohibits access to and collection, use, or disclosure of identifiable information except with the documented informed consent and/or authorization of the consumer or guardian, or as explicitly permitted by State or Federal legislation or regulation. Such use of information will be limited to the minimum necessary to accomplish the stated purpose. It is based on the following premises:
- Clients will be treated with dignity and respect, and their rights will be safeguarded by all who provide services to them. Privacy and confidentiality procedures will control the use and dissemination of personal and confidential information.
- A client or guardian (as applicable) has control over disclosures of personal and confidential information except as otherwise permitted by law or regulation.
- Authorization and consent for release of personal and confidential information may be withdrawn by a client or guardian at any time for any reason.
- The client or guardian has the right to access all of the client’s personal and confidential information except as otherwise specified by law or regulation
