Morrison's

Opportunity Farm

Morrison Center is pleased to present our vision for Opportunity Farm in New Gloucester – a wonderful campus for some of Maine’s most vulnerable children to include residences, a K-12 Special Purpose School and a Therapy Center.

Please contact us with any questions on the project or ways in which you could help.

Farm & Greenhouse

Farm To Table

Our Scarborough greenhouses and fields at Opportunity Farm provide fresh, locally grown, nutritious produce to the children and adults in our residential programs. Stay tuned for updates this spring.

Initiatives

Corn and Climate Change Study

If you were at Opportunity Farm between July and September this year, you might have noticed that the corn plants had some “accessories” installed amongst the plants. This year, Opportunity Farm was part of a region wide research and networking project to help farms adapt to changing climate and weather patterns, known as the Climate Adaptation Fellows.

As part of our participation in the program, we monitored soil moisture levels in our sweet corn with the hope that the farm can reduce irrigation needs while still optimizing crop production.

Initiatives

Northern Maine/New Hampshire

We are working on expanding our reach northward – we already have shared living providers all over the state and are licensed for shared living in New Hampshire. With our expansion to the Bangor/Brewer area as well as adding a Case Management office in Waterville, we’re taking steps to provide services, support, choice and community to more individuals in underserved areas of the state.
